Language is alive: why we make new proverbs

In a hundred years nobody will understand our proverbs. But that's true of the old ones too.

Hardly anyone takes 'falling between two stools' literally any more, yet we still use it every day. A proverb doesn't have to be old to work.

That is why we started the ABC of new proverbs: anyone can send one in. If it catches on, it catches on.
